What is summer grilling season without the hot dog?
The hot dog has been around since 1871 (the North American Hot Dog) verses Frankfurt, Germany which pegs the hot dog developed in 1487. Apparently there is a small dog of contention with Vienna, Austria and their claim as the hot dogs birthplace.
But I digress. This all began when I read an old article I’d written on the popularity of the paranormal hot dog stand. Huh? True.
Paranormal Hot Dog Stand
Which led to researching if the paranormal hot dog stand still exists and is the paranormal hot dog stand on the list of the Best Hot Dog Restaurants in America. Things happen like that when researching and in answer to the question, no it is not included on the list.
Which brings me to the fun and humorous names of the Hot Dog restaurants in America.
Love their sense of humor and the play on names. Full disclosure is that I am also a dog lover so these names endear themselves to me perhaps a bit more than the cat lover.
To share a few of my favorites in Hot Dog season

Hot Dog University
Maybe owning a hot dog restaurant is not on your horizon but how about a hot dog cart? Food carts remain quite the popular forms of mobile entertainment. When the Top Chef has a food cart challenge then one knows the food carts are mainstream.
Food carts look so fun on television and I’m sure the reality of operating a food cart is very hard work.
Vienna University is here to help the aspiring hot dog cart owners. Learning The Art of The Cart is offered by the Hot Dog University in Chicago and Los Angeles this summer. Also offered is the Hot Dog Stand travelling Road Show.
Intriguing I admit!

I remember seeing giant hot dogs on wheels driving down the New York Thruway. It was startling the first time but, after that, it was quite amusing to see the oversized hot dog. What else can I say but hot diggity dog!
